Obituary

Carla Lorraine Kerr

Carla Lorraine Kerr was born in Phoenix, Arizona on December 10, 1946 to the late Betty L. Kerr (Vogt). Carla was named after her biological father who died shortly before she was born. She remained close to the Carl Vogt family for many years. The only father she knew and loved was the late John K. Kerr, M.D. who married Carla's mother, Betty, in 1947 and adopted her in 1950. Carla passed away peacefully in the care of her brother and sister-in-law John and Sheri Kerr at their home in Cottonwood, Arizona on October 10, 2021 at age 74. Carla is preceded in death by her loving husband Robert B. Toher (Bob); brother Keith R. Kerr; brother-in-law Brian Mellott; nephew John Kerr-Mellott and great nephew Lance Kerr; she is survived by her brother John C. Kerr (Sheri); sister Susan Kerr-Mellott and Eva Vuorenmaa Gertz of Germany; sister-in-law Cindy Kerr; son-in-law David B. Toher (Deborah); granddaughter Jacqueline L. Toher; great grandchildren Nevaeh Ann Ferguson, Mason David Ferguson and many nieces and nephews.

Carla was smart, sophisticated, a free spirit with a devilishly fun sense of humor. Her friendships were close and enduring. In her early days, she was always in leadership roles, starting in 7th grade as class president, very active in Girl Scouting, even meeting Mamie Eisenhower for the 50th Anniversary of GS in 1962. She graduated in the top 10 of her Mesa High School and was their AFS foreign exchange student to Chile, received honors at Lewis & Clark College, spent a year studying in Mexico City, graduating from A.S.U. and later earning her Master's Degree. She went off to New York for the corporate world, also living and working in Germany. She loved to shop...her mantra was "if one is good, two are better!" and owned a gift store in Massachusetts and a 22 unit bed and breakfast on the ocean. Friends marveled at her gourmet cooking, especially her taco night...they tried to talk her into starting a taco truck! She had a fondness for animals, especially exotic ones, owning a potbellied pig and bringing a kinkajou home from Mexico. In 1991, she met and married the love of her life, Bob Toher, settling in New Hampshire. When he passed away, she bought an RV and traveled the country with her little dog, Jersey, ending up in St. George, Utah, but kept close to his family, especially her great grandchildren who called her "GG". Her many hobbies included knitting, crafting, pottery, crossword and jigsaw puzzles. She was witty and sharp to the end. Special thanks to the hospice nurses and caregivers with Compassus of Sedona who brightened her day during these last months. Her remains will be reunited with her husband in New Hampshire.

Would really like to hear from anyone who wants to have a chat. Please e-mail me I will be happy to respond. I am not a facebook member but would be happy to hear from you!

Am now in Utah, but have lived in alot of areas of the country, the last being NH.  Spent 7 years in NY, mostly in management.  Owned a store on Bearskin Neck, Cape Ann, MA.  Co-owned a 22 unit motel on the ocean in Gloucester, MA as well.  Both sold now.

At this point I plan on going across country back to NH and surrounding areas for the summer.  Will be going in my class B motorhome.  Came from back there about 5 or 6 years ago in a different motorhome on my own and, after traveling around a bit, ended up here.

I guess it is time to do some exploring again!

Would be happy to hear from anyone who might read this and especially anyone who lives in different areas to give hints about where to stay (RV, etc_).

Our Lord called home Kent F Muccilli, 74, of Chandler, Arizona on December 5, 2020, while surrounded by his family. He was born in Rice Lake, Wisconsin to Dr. Alfred E and Eileen L Muccilli. Kent's family moved to Arizona when he was just 2 years old and Kent lived most of his life in Mesa, Arizona, where he graduated from Mesa High School in 1964. He attended University of Arizona and graduated from Mesa Community College with a degree in Business. He also served honorably in the United States Army Reserve.

In 1969, Kent began his 30-year career with the State of Arizona Department of Revenue, where he held many supervisory and administrative positions until his retirement in 1999.

Kent also had a second career as a Test Car Driver for Kett Engineering. Being a lifelong car guy, he loved this job as he was able to test-drive vehicles ranging from economy cars to the some of the finest exotic cars in production. His love of cars was also evident by his ownership of some iconic automobiles over the years, such as his ’66, ‘67, ’71, ’94, and ‘04 Corvettes.

He was a lifelong fan of the Minnesota Vikings and Arizona State Football Teams.

Two of his favorite travel destinations were the Oregon coast and Monterey, CA.

Kent is survived by his wife of 35 years, Donna (Feight), his sons, Thomas Kent of Queen Creek, AZ, and Michael Ryan (Kylie), his grandson, Nate Ryan of Mt Juliet, TN, his brother, Marcus (Bonnie) of Redmond, Washington, and his sister-in-law, JoAnn (David) VanBilliard. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Christina Marie.

GOT THIS FROM Barbara WanlassMy Aunt Karen passed away on July 26, 2021.  Her husband's brother posted the attached notice on some platform recently. My sister found it and sent it to me. I cropped it so it could be posted here. In the end, MS took everything she had, including her memory.  She was diagnosed with MS when she was 50. Those who knew her before MS changed her remember her as a fun, spirited person who lived life to the fullest.  When an obituary is available, it will be posted here with more details about her life before MS.

I'm not positive, but I think Aunt Karen graduated in the Class of 64. The post indicates Class of 63. If anyone in the group graduated with her, please confirm.
Karen has MS and she has had strokes and is pretty much bedfast. She is
unable to travel. My brother, RON,  takes care of her when he gets home from work.
He is battling cancer, running a business and taking care of Karen.
She would not remember anyone.

JIM IS COMING TO THE 50TH REUNION

Hi to all my ol' classmates!

I retired ten years ago from the US Postal Service and soon moved to one of my favorite places on earth... Hawai'i.  Though never married, I've always had great housemates and companions throughout life, with whom I've shared great fun and adventures.

Earlier in life I was in the Navy and also lived and worked in Israel for a few years which was also a great experience.  My main interests now are languages and tropical horticulture.

See you all at the reunion!  :)
