Gloria Miller was a very dear friend of mine and of many others as well. She was a kind,
thoughtful, and loving person. She had many setbacks at a young age but survived. Losing
a mother while in Junior High was devastating. She had to take on many responsibilities
at a young age, including taking care of a younger sibling along with her father. I
didn't see her much during our Junior and Senior year but I understand she was later
happily married and had a child, who was killed along with her in the car wreck.

I met Patti Taft in my junior year at Mesa High. Her mom was a widow with 5 girls to take care of. Patti's dad had passed away and also one of her brothers. She stood a tall 4'11" and I was 5' 8" so we were like Mutt and Jeff. She lived right behind me so we spent lots of time together listening to music and doing typical teenage girl things. I knew she had cystic fibrosis but never realized that her chance of living beyond 30 was rare. Her younger brother already had succumbed to the disease and she had a younger sister who had it as well. A year after graduation I married and moved to California so we lost touch. Cheryl Fix was a great friend of hers too and they each married guys that were in the same fraternity at ASU. Patty only lived to be 24 and she is buried at Green Acres Cemetary in Scottsdale. I just found that out when rekindling my old friendship with Cheryl this past year. That is where my parents have been for over 15 years and going forward when I visit them I will also visit my dear friend Patty. Everyone needs some pretty flowers from time to time. Cherish today and the friendships you have..old and new! and always remember "Growing old is a luxury some of us never get to enjoy."
THIS NOW PIC WAS TAKEN IN 1966 WHILE  SHE WAS ATTENDING ASU.  SHE PASSED AWAY IN 1972.
